For example, every cartoning machine in the industry is set up to emboss the lot number and expiration date on the bottom of the carton. A client once sent us thousands of cartons that were printed with the embossed area on the top. The client’s quality assurance people had missed the error, and the product launch was fast approaching. Within one day we rigged a mechanical change to our equipment, tied the embosser into the gears, altered the phase, and reversed all the embossing heads. The client lost no time, and Tenco didn’t charge them a dime extra.

That’s the kind of commitment and extraordinary service we provide. We just do things like that. We solve the problem and get the job done. On time. Regardless of what it takes. And with no up-charges to the customer.

You know the scenario: Marketing comes up with an innovative promotion – a bonus pack, two-for-one, or a special premium – and it’s your job to get it packaged and delivered. The goal may be a tube of this packaged with a box of that. Or a bonus pack with a BOGO promotion. Or it may be a sample kit that highlights a new product line. Challenge 1:

The client wanted a package that included a molded plastic tray with a slot for an audio cassette, the product, a literature booklet, and a box to hold the assembly. It was a product launch and they needed us to produce 80,000 units a day for three months. Working with the client, and relying on our experience and know-how, Tenco had a special machine designed and built for that specific job. And we got the packaging job done on time and on budget.

Challenge 2:

The client had 500,000 bottles of its new shampoo for an approaching product launch. But an unacceptable percentage of the bottle tops would either pop open or come off altogether.  Tenco performed a 100% inspection of all half-million bottles and applied over-label closure labels. We got the call on Monday, and by Wednesday, we were over-labeling 25,000 units a day. We kept the pipeline going and the client met its launch date.

Challenge 3:

It was a combo pack promotion, and the operations department realized the sales projected by the marketing department were unrealistic. So the operations department assumed the demand would be 500,000 fewer units than turned out to be the case. Panic time! If a retailer’s purchase contract calls for delivery on the 29th and you deliver one day late, they can cancel the order. Millions of dollars were at stake. But Tenco Assemblies rallied: Within two days we were running two lines, 10 hours a day, six days a week. We got the job done in two weeks. The client was relieved. “You really saved us,” he said, “Big time!”
